The 70th National Film Awards Ceremony led by President Droupadi Murmu held on 8th October, 2024 at Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi. The event honours the artistes and filmmakers from the Indian Film Industry.
Yami Gautam is a very proud daughter as her father wins his first National Award
Yami Gautam’s father Mukesh Gautam who is known for directing films like Ek Noor and Akhiyaan Udeekdian, has received his first National Award. Mukesh has won ‘Best Punjabi Feature Film’ award for his directorial ‘Baghi Di Dhee’ released in 2022.
Yami took to her social media and mentioned “Very emotional moment as my father, Shri Mukesh Gautam , received his first National Award, as a director, for his film – ‘Baghi Di Dhee’ . Emotions cannot be poured in words. I am such a proud daughter. My father’ journey till here has been one of the hardest journeys I have seen & yet couldn’t deter him from his consistent passion for work & immense honesty in ethics. Yami’s sister Surilie Gautam shared the video on her gram and we can hear the happiness and joy of the family while Mukesh receives the award. Baghi Di Dhee is a film based on a girl from Punjab whose father was a Ghadar revolutionaryand fought for the nation during freedom struggle. The film was an inspiration from an original story written by the late Gurmukh Singh Musafir, a freedom fighter and Punjab’s fifth chief minister.
Talking about Yami’s work, she last appeared in Article 370 which was a blockbuster at the box office. It is directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale and produced by Aditya Dhar. The film was made with a budget of ₹20 cr and earned ₹110 Cr at worldwide box office. She will next appear in Dhoom Dhaam alongside Pratik Gandhi.
