Blockbuster director SS Rajamouli is working on one of the biggest films in
India. Not only fans are eagerly waiting for its release, but big streaming
media houses are also eyeing to grab the rights of the film. Recently there
was a report that Jayantilal Gada bagged the digital and satellite rights of
the film including Telugu, Tamil and Kannada. While he also bought the Hindi
language version theatrical release rights for 140 crores. He grabbed the deal
for a total of 475 crores. But as per the new development now the post-release
digital and Satellite rights of SS Rajamouli’s directorial venture sold for
the Zee Group for a historic price.
As per the closed source statement “Bahubali was a smash hit on all mediums –
theatrical, television, digital – and the trade is expecting the same from RRR
too. The makers have sold the post-release satellite and digital rights (All
Languages) of RRR to Zee Group for a humongous sum in the range of Rs 325
crore, thereby making it the biggest post-release deal of all time. The
satellite and digital rights have been transferred by Jayatilal Gada to Zee
Group”. While the source also added that “But these are post-release streaming
rights and should not be mistaken for a direct to digital premiere”.
There was a strong buzz last year that the makers were planning to go with the
Star group but now the star group is out of the race. As per the new reports,
the Zee Group grabbed the biggest deal with RRR makers. While the overall
pre-release revenue of the film is expected to be nearly 800 crores. RRR was
scheduled to be released in the theatres in January 2021. However, due to the
pandemic and delay in the shooting. Later, the makers slated the release date
on this Dussehra. But it seems like the makers will postpone the release date
of the film.
RRR is a story created around two freedom fighters. It is led by Jr. NTR and
Ram Charan. Bollywood actors Ajay Devgan and Alia Bhatt are also part of this
big project. It is directed by SS Rajamouli.
