Kareena Kapoor Marks 25 Years In Bollywood; “PR Machinery Dictating Who’s Latest, We Should Pay Attention To Our Scriptwriters”.

Bollywood Actress Kareena Kapoor is celebrating 25 years in the Film Industry. The actress turned producer for her upcoming film ‘The Buckingham Murders’ in the 25th year.

Kareena Kapoor who has captivated the audiences with her versatility will be seen in an intense and gripping role in ‘The Buckingham Murders’. In a recent Interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Kareena Kapoor shared her thoughts about how the industry has changed over the last 25 years and what truly matters in the filmmaking process.

Kareena About her 25 Year Long Career In Bollywood

Talking about her journey in the industry, Kareena said “I’ve been in around 75 to 80 films over nearly 25 years. Even though Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham was more than 22 years ago and Jab We Met came out a while back, the longevity of those characters continues to surprise me. They’ve become part of pop culture, and their relevance seems to grow”.

Kareena believes that storytelling and impactful performances is what truly matters and that is where the true essence of filmmaking lies. “Directors and performances that leave a lasting impact- that’s what matters. I hope to see a resurgence in content that resonates deeply”.

She gave advice to the newcomers by saying “Focus on your performance, stay centered on what’s happening in front of the camera. There’s a lot of noise behind the scenes, but what truly matters is your performance. Keep honing your craft and improving your acting skills. That’s what will help you stand out and succeed.”

Kareena revealed she never chased any opportunity. “Instead, I let them come to me. If something didn’t work out, I was okay with it because I knew that by staying true to myself and my craft, everything would eventually fall into place.”

Kareena on What Bollywood Needs Today

Kareena said that Bollywood now needs to focus on content and scripts and feels that PR machinery dictates who is the latest star and that changes every week. “The focus now needs to be on content and scripts. We should pay more attention to our scriptwriters, dialogue and dialect. Today, the industry has become compartmentalized with agents, managers, and and entire PR machinery dictating who’s the latest icon based on their film’s success. But honestly, these are just fleeting trends that change every week”, she added.

Kareena describes herself as Sharp, focused and cool. She further said ‘cool’ isn’t about fitting in but about staying true to oneself and not letting external factors compromise one’s essence.

Talking about ‘The Buckingham Murders’, Kareena is playing a British-Indian detective Jasmeet Bhamra who lost her child. Jasmeet will be assigned with the case of a murdered 10-year old child in Buckinghamshire. The film is directed by Hansal Mehta and produced by Kareena Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor. It also stars Keith Allen and Chef Ranveer Brar makes his acting debut with this film. It is set to hit theatres on 13 September 2024.
