Bollywood Actress and Politician Kangana Ranaut is gearing up for the release of much awaited film Emergency. The actress is known for her unapologetic honesty and never shying away from speaking her mind. During an interview, Kangana recalled rejecting films with stars like Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Ranbir Kapoor and how they reacted.
Kangana Ranaut Recalls Rejecting Salman Khan’s Barjangi Bhaijaan, Akshay Kumar’s Singh Is Bliing and Ranbir Kapoor’s Sanju
Kangana said she refused to act in Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan, Akshay Kumar’s Singh is Bliing and Ranbit Kapoor’s Sanju. She revealed that they don’t hold any grudges even after rejecting their movies and showered praises on Salman Khan for his kindness.
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, the ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ fame said “People are very kind to me. Because I think somewhere they recognize that, Kangana isn’t speaking for her little gain, For example, when Salman asked me to do Bajrangi Bhaijaan, I said ‘Yeh Kya role tumne mujhe diya?(What kind of a role have you given me)’. He then called me for Sultan again, so he said ‘Ab isse zyada kya role chahiye, Heroines ka aesa hi role ota hai’. Even the other heroes, Ranbir himself, came to my house and said, ‘Sanju mein role karle please’. I didn’t do it….”
Recalling her conversation with Akshay Kumar, Kangana said “Akshay Kumar when did Singh Is Bliing, he called me and said, ‘Tu na mere saath hi kaam nahi karna chahti hai. Tereko na mujhse koi problem hai(You don’t want to work only with me, you have a problem with me)’. I said, ‘Sir, sach mein mujhe koi problem nahi hai. He said, ‘Itni filmein tune mere saath kyun reject kiya(Why did you reject so many films with me)?’. I said, ‘Sir, honestly koi problem nahi hai’. Now, when they meet me, they don’t have any grudges.

Furthermore, Kangana Ranaut added “Salman is so kind, he keeps talking to me. Even now, for Emergency, he said ‘I have to see’. So then he sent our common friend and said, ‘You go and see what kind of a film she has made.’ I showed it to him. He called me and said, ‘It’s a good film’. I asked, ‘You have received the feedback but you didn’t watch it?’ He said, ‘No’. That’s how he talks to me”.
Talking about Salman, she said “If you look at Salman ji, he has such a huge fan following, and people love him so much. Those who love him will continue to love him. But those who find him bothersome will obviously hate him. Whether it’s his competitors or people in the film industry. In their eyes, he will always be a source of irritation. If we were in his place or if people questioned why he is in that position, then, of course, he would be bothersome to them.”
Kangana Ranaut was last seen in Tejas in 2023. Her upcoming film Emergency is a political drama based on former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi. It is directed and produced by Kangana herself. It also stars Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Chaudhry, Milind Soman, Satish Kaushik in major roles. The movie is set to hit theatres on 6th September 2024. She will also be seen in Untitled psychological thriller which is simultaneously shot in Tamil and Hindi. Apart from movies, Kangana has made her political entry as she joined BJP and won in 18th Lok Sabha as Member of Parliament from Mandi constituency in Himachal Pradesh.
