Without any doubt, Thalapathy Vijay is one of the leading actors in the south
film industry. His recent movie ‘Master’ earned lots of praise. However, now
the actor seems to have landed in the problem as he was fined for Rs. 1 lakh
by Madras High Court order. Actor Vijay filed the petition in the high court
seeking an exemption of tax on his imported Rolls-Royce Ghost worth around Rs
6.95-7.95 crore.
On Tuesday, justice SM Subramaniam dismissed the written petition filed by
Bigil actor Vijay and asked him to pay the 1 lakh rupees to Tamil Nadu chief
minister covid relief funds. Even the justice asked him to pay the other due
taxes within the two weeks. The actor’s car has been imported from England.
Replying to his petition, the court said “These actors are portraying
themselves as the champions to bring social justice. Their pictures are
against corrupt activities in the society. But, they are evading tax and
acting in a manner, which is not in consonance with provisions of the
Statutes”. However, the actor is now asked to pay all the due taxes within two
weeks from the date mentioned on the copy of the order.
Vijay is currently in Chennai and shooting for his upcoming action thriller
‘Beast’ directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. It also has Pooja Hegde as the female
lead. Meanwhile, the actor Vijay was last seen in Master alongside Vijay
Sethupathi and Malvika Mohanan.
